What is the KCNA certification, and who is it for?

KCNA — Kubernetes and Cloud Native Associate — is the CNCF's entry-level certification. It is a 90-minute, multiple-choice exam covering Kubernetes fundamentals, container orchestration, cloud-native architecture, observability and application delivery. It is designed for people who need working fluency rather than operational depth: developers shipping onto a cluster they do not run, SREs new to Kubernetes, and technical-adjacent roles such as architects and pre-sales engineers. Engineers who will operate the cluster should aim at CKA instead.

How do you prepare a team for KCNA, CKA or CKAD?

We teach the subject on real clusters first, then drill the exam. That means lab exercises mapped to the published curriculum domains, timed mock attempts under exam conditions, and the mechanics candidates lose marks on — the terminal environment, time budgeting per question, and when to skip and return.
